The merchant Wilhelm Westholt starts a small textile business in Osnabrück/Germany. He specializes in supplying stages, theatres and event halls with technical stage textiles and build up Westholt into a respected name in this branch.
After more than 40 years of successful work, Wilhelm Westholt was looking for a company successor. In 1987, he found what he was looking for: the family Schneider in Kerpen/Germany, owners of the Schneider Textile Group, specialists in production and finishing of technical stage textiles. Joachim Schneider developed Westholt into a brand, with the well-known and protected trademark and launches a new collection.
The Westholt brand makes its first major appearance at the most important convention of the year at the Aalto Theatre in Essen/Germany. From this point on, Wilhelm Westholt GmbH takes part in all relevant trade fairs and conferences with an elaborate exhibition stand.
Andreas Schneider joins the company. The younger brother of CEO Joachim Schneider adds valuable skills to the Westholt team as industrial engineer with a degree in textile technology, finishing and business administration.
Westholt opens its own workshop in Soltau/Germany for the production of ready-made PVC-projection films.
Westholt expands and builds. The new production facility is optimally designed for the manufacture of PVC films. Westholt receives a lot of positive feedback from old and new customers for the new possibilities in terms of the formats that can be produced, increasing the production speed and at the same time increasing the quality.
A lot is developing at the Westholt headquarter in Kerpen/Germany: Environmental and energy issues will consistently be optimised. Digitalisation has played the decisive role in the Westholt/Schneider companies since the 1990s. All relevant processes, machines, departments and production sites are networked with each other, and the two managing directors, Joachim and Andreas Schneider, are in charge of everything.
